Aaron McAvinue (@aaronmcavinue) - My approach to creating is guided by my personal taste in art and driven by inspiration I find in the world. I've been making, experiencing, and studying art in different forms for most of my life. This background has developed my aesthetic sensibilities which I enjoy making into artworks.

I find inspiration everywhere and am influenced by all kinds of visual culture. Some of these sources are things like images from the internet, other artworks (both gallery art and commercial works), walks in the park, novels, pop culture, and art history. I'm not exclusive about where the work comes from, and I'm inspired easily so there's always something on my mind that I want to make.

In order to make these works I've challenged myself to pick up many techniques, processes, and materials over the years. I enjoy seeing how I can combine this knowledge in different ways to create works that are harmonious. The way I do this is different for each piece. Sometimes I'll start with a doodle and continue drawing, erasing, and working it until it speaks to me. Other works start as a form of collage, with a graphic resource I find on the internet (like a 3d model or vector file). Others still will start directly from images I find. I'll collect pictures from all over, look at what I like about them, take those elements and put them into a piece that pleases me.

The goal is to create something that is visually stimulating rather than rationally engaging. Like listening to music, your eyes and emotions guide your experience with the work. Sometimes there is a literal message behind the work, but that is secondary to the meaning the viewer finds for themselves. - 487060762A88A877426_34A8640302
